General English (20 lessons)

International House Bristol is a family-owned English school founded in 1987 by Dr Val Hennessy, part of the International House network since 2009 and of IALC since 2024. It is accredited by the British Council, a member of English UK and an official Cambridge, IELTS and OET exam centre. Adult courses take place in a period building at 2 Queens Avenue in Clifton, Bristol's most attractive district, surrounded by university students, cafes and shops, with eight bus lines on the doorstep. The adult centre has 8 classrooms, free wifi, a large common room with microwaves and fridges, front and back gardens, and free freshly ground coffee and tea for students. Classes have a maximum of 12 adults (16 in the junior courses). Courses: General English (20 lessons a week), Intensive English (30 lessons), IELTS and Cambridge exam preparation (also as packages with the exam included), Best of Bristol 45+ with afternoon activities and Saturday trips, and a course for foreign teachers of English. Accommodation in homestays managed by the school (half board or self-catering) or in the school's own adult residence with private bathrooms in Clifton. A social programme with weekly activities and trips to places such as Bath, Oxford and Stonehenge.
