Fixed Dates: 01-03-2027, 05-04-2027, 18-10-2027, 08-11-2027.
Two-week Standard Italian course (Monday to Friday) combined with leisure and cultural activities for students over 60, such as a tour of Cefalù, wine tasting, a tour of Palermo, a Sicilian cooking class, a day trip to a Madonie village, a visit to the Guarneri wood with local products, a seminar on Italian culture and an Italian film with English subtitles. Minimum 8 participants; students arrive on Saturday or Sunday. Accommodation not included. Solemar Academy, Via M.C. Tomasini 5, Cefalù (Sicily), founded in 1986, member of ASILS and CELI exam centre. Group courses run from 22 February to 26 November 2027 and start every Monday; with fewer than 4 students the lessons are reduced (2-3 students: 15 units a week; 1 student: 10 units a week). The registration fee (50 EUR) includes the placement test and teaching materials.

Student information
Placement test: the placement test is sent by email about 15 days before arrival. On the first day, each student also has a short conversation with the teachers so we can place them in the right class.
Leisure activities: every Monday afternoon, one of our teachers takes new students on a walking tour of Cefalù's historic centre. The weekly programme of leisure activities is presented on Monday mornings and may include Sicilian cooking classes, a Sicilian maiolica tile workshop, aperitivi, boat trips along the coast, trekking and other cultural excursions. Activities take place with a minimum number of participants.
School closures: group courses run every year from late February to late November; from December to February only individual courses are available. The school is closed for the Christmas holidays (from 21 December to 1 January) and on these public holidays in 2027: 6 January, Easter Monday (29 March), 1 May and 2 June.

- Bookings are not transferable.
- Bank charges are payable by students
- Students must be 16 years of age or over
Cancellation policy
- The cancellation needs to be communicated in writing to the school by the person who booked the course.
- Where a cancellation is received 1 days after enrolment there will be no refund.
- The deposit is non-refundable.
- Accommodation booking fee is non-refundable.
- No refund will be made for shortening the course duration after the payment.
- There is no refund for any cancellation once the course has commenced.
- After a course has started there is no refund for any accommodation or other item booked.
- No tuition refunds are given for late arrivals, early departures or absences, for whatever reason, from classes during any course.
Refund policy
- Bookings may be cancelled up to 4 weeks prior to commencement of the course without penalty or fee.
- If a course is cancelled more than 30 days before course start: 100% refund
- If a course is cancelled between 1 and 30 days before course start: 0% refund
Visa refusal
- In case a visa is refused to the student, the school will charge 100 Euro and the remaining balance will be refunded to the student upon receipt of an original VISA refusal letter.
Other terms
Payment: the balance is due 30 days before arrival.
Course cancellation: up to 30 days before the course starts, the deposit is refunded minus the 50 EUR registration fee. For cancellations less than 30 days before the start date, the full amount is charged.
Accommodation cancellation: 100% for cancellations less than 30 days before arrival.
Visa refusal: the amount paid is refunded minus the registration fee (100 EUR), upon receipt of the official refusal letter from the Consulate.
If there are fewer than 4 students in a group class, units are reduced as follows: 2-3 students: 3 units per day; 1 student: 2 units per day.
