The Academia Superior de Idiomas was founded in 1988 in Quito by our now Academic Director Ing. Eugenio Cordova and is now the oldest existing school in the Ecuadorian capital. We currently teach Spanish in our schools in Quito, Otavalo, the Galapagos Islands, northern Peru and also in our Travelling Classrooms and Spanish Specials. Our family-runned school has been recognized by former students and other schools as the leading Spanish school in Ecuador. One reason for this accomplishment is our teachers! We only work with fixed-salary teachers with many years of experience. On average they stay with our school for 14 years, some of them for 20 years or more. All our teachers have university degrees. During our years of experience, we have refined our unique academic system to include our teaching materials and all grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening and writing abilities. Every student will be supervised and guided through his whole stay, guaranteeing a fast and effective learning process. Our newest school in Peru is in a prime location right on the Pacific Coast and the next to the Panamerican Highway. We use the same teaching methodology in all of our schools in Ecuador and Peru, so you can combine our courses in northern Peru with classes in Ecuador. You can make your own travel arrangements or book our fixed transfer packages. If you dont want to fly to Chiclayo, we offer transfers from Lima or Ecuador. For this reason, we offer you many different activities to help you experience a complete cultural immersion. Cooking Classes The Peruvian cuisine is one of the finest and perhaps most undiscovered in Latin America. The richness of Peru's history and culture is one reason why its cuisine is so versatile and unique. Traditional recipes are influenced by the immigrants and conquerors this country has experienced in its ancient and more recent past, such as the Incas and Spanish conquistdores. Besides these well known groups the French and other European countries brought over some of their ingredients after Peru’s independence in 1821. Later they were followed by Chinese and Japanese immigrants. Peru’s coast offers an expecially really rich and diversified cuisine. We offer you twice a week traditional Peruvian and Latin American cooking lessons. If demand is high, we can offer additional classes in our school kitchen. After our cooking lessons you can enjoy the fruits of your labor with other sudents for a small contribution of about USD $1.50 for the entire meal. Salsa Classes Every week and during your stay at the Academia Superior de Idiomas in Peru you can take free Salsa dance classes. They are given by a professional salsa teacher on our school patio. It doesn’t matter if you are a complete beginner or an experienced dancer--our teacher will respond to your individual needs and help you master the steps. Weekly City Tour & Excursions Every week we organise a guided tour or excursion to popular and interesting places in Pimentel, Chiclayo or the surrounding areas. We regularly visit the “Mercado de Brujos” (the biggest shaman and witch market in South America), the handicraft market of Monsefu, the famous Brünning or “Tumbas Reales de Sipan“ museums, an ostrich farm in Pimentel, the Túcume Pyramids or the archaeological site and graves of the “Lord of Sipan.” Additional Conversation Classes Twice a week we offer additional conversation classes. Together with a teacher you will talk about current topics of Peru, politics, typical Latin American matters or just visit a nearby market. These additional conversation classes are a great possibility to improve your skills and get to know your schoolmates better. Tandem Program Our Tandem program is a great opportunity to explore the Peruvian culture and learn more about the Peruvian way of life while improving your Spanish skills after classes. We will pair you up with a native speaker who will help teach you Spanish. You can meet at the beach, in the city for a walk, make a stop in a cafe or explore a market. You can explore the city while practicing your Spanish with your Tandem partner. You will discover the culture of Peru first hand and will make new friends very easily. Peruvian movies Once a week you can join our movie screenings pf typical Spanish or Peruvian movies. Sometimes we show interesting documentaries about the country. After seeing the movie you will have a conversation class about the film to discuss themes and learn specific vocabulary. Orientation Seminar There might be a lot of things concerning culture and lifestyle that you will have to get acquainted with, especially if it’s your first visit to South America. Directly upon your arrival we will organise an extensive orientation seminar to equip you with everything you need to make your stay at ASI a comfortable one. The seminar will be held every week, so you can take if more than once, if you like. You will get to know your classmates, become familiar with the staff, and learn everything you will need to “survive” in Ecuador and during your stay in South America. We will not only give you an overview of the school, but we’ll share with you how to stay safe, travel smart and even use public transportation. You will gain important knowledge about the mentality of Peru and its residents, how to act in every important situation, what are common prices and any other relevant information. Participant Meetings At our school in Peru we organise regular student meetings to receive your feedback and help support you by answering your questions and helping to resolve your concerns. You can contact our staff every day of the week, and we maintain a 24 hour emergency number for more pressing issues. We have learned that these kinds of regular meetings are the best way to support our students with common problems and to help them to enjoy their stay in Peru.

- Services must be paid in full 28 days before the course starts in order to complete the enrolment and secure a place in the course and/or accommodation.
- Bank charges are payable by students
- Students must be 16 years of age or over

Cancellation policy

- The cancellation needs to be communicated in writing to the school by the person who booked the course.
- No refund will be made for shortening the course duration after the payment.
- No tuition refunds are given for late arrivals, early departures or absences, for whatever reason, from classes during any course.
- If a student is absent for one or more weeks at a time, arrangements can be made for the course duration to be extended at no extra cost.

Refund policy

- If a course is cancelled more than 28 days before course start: 90% refund
- If a course is cancelled between 28 and 7 days before course start: 50% refund
- If a course is cancelled less than 7 days before the start date full price will be charged.

Visa refusal

- 1- No refunds whatsoever are given for Visa refusal.

Other terms

In the event that a course has to be cancelled by the school at short notice before the beginning or during the duration of the course due to "force majeure" (wartime situations, riots, strikes, natural disasters, etc.) or for other unavoidable reasons, the school reimburses the total of pre-payments made without deductions. Possible bank charges are the receiver’s responsibility. All demands for further compensation will be denied.

How do I book a language course / accommodation?

Booking with us is really easy. You just have to go to the link of the school you are interested in. Where it says COURSE and then START, you select the dates you wish to study there. Afterwards, you select how many weeks you want to study.

You then select the course you wish to attend. You can add optional services, such as accommodation and airport transfer. If you would like to add these additional services, you need to go further down the page where you will find the section relating to ACCOMMODATION. You select the option of the type of accommodation you want (You do not have to select the dates here if they are the same as the course - they are automatically selected).
After the Accommodation, you have another option, that of TRANSFER. This option allows you to book a transport that will pick you up at the airport and will take you to your residence or host family.

Once you have selected all these options, on your right hand side, you are going to see a summary of your reservation with all the information about the course and the accommodation, together with their prices. Also, the deposit you have to pay will be displayed there. You just have to press the Orange Button that says BOOK NOW and this will take you to another page to enter your personal details. When you are booking you only have to pay the little deposit. After that, we will contact the school and request your booking. When your booking is confirmed by the school or host, they will hold your place until the your booking balance is paid in full. The same applies for the accommodation. You can pay either with credit card, paypal account or bank transfer; as you prefer. This deposit you pay now will be discounted from the total price. The rest of the money will not have to be paid until 15 days before your course starts. In any case, you will be receiving emails about your deposit payments; and also, reminders about the rest of the money when it needs to be paid.

When do the courses start?

The start dates of intensive and standard language courses are generally flexible. If you have some basic knowledge of the language, you will be able to start any Monday of the year at almost any school. If you are a total beginner, courses usually start once or twice a month.
You should be aware that language schools have more students in July and August than during any other time of year, which means that course fees, housing prices and the overall cost of living are often more expensive during this time. If you would like to book a course in July or August, you should do so very early: schools have limited spots and might be booked well in advance for the high season. Your chances to get your preferred housing type are also greater if you book your course early. Housing options near the school are especially difficult to secure in the summer and tend to fill up quickly.
Language courses during the low season (September to June) are not only less expensive, but also have smaller classes. If you are able to wait to take your courses during this time you will pay less for your courses, and you may even receive better housing, since demand is much lower. How do I know if a place is available?

You can find the availability status underneath each price on the school / host page. Nevertheless, if you submit a reservation request and your place is not available, the deposit paid will be 100% refunded.
