Student information

We are pleased that you have decided to book a language course at our institute. At our institute you will meet participants from all over the world, you will make many friends and you will learn German in a private and friendly setting. Upon your arrival at the did deutsch-institut in Berlin you will receive a detailed Students’ Handbook. did deutsch-institut was awarded the Study Travel Magazine Star Award 5 times and now enjoys the STM Super Star Status as first German Language School.

Excursions with our activity guides are not a must – some excursions, however, you shouldn’t miss! On our walking tours through the historical center of our capital you’ll see places worthwhile discovering around school: the alternative cultural center Tacheles, the cultivated revue theatre Friedrichstadtpalast, the marvelous synagogue and the lively backyards of Hackescher Markt. Our activity guide will show you the few remains of the Berlin Wall, will tell you the history of the Reichstag before the Federal Parliament moved into the building in 1999, and will give you all the background information on the Potsdamer Platz and how it looked like before and immediately after World War II.

If you visit Berlin, you got to see Potsdam, too! Because right outside the city of Berlin, 30 minutes away from school by public transport, you‘ll find a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage monument of special beauty. The former residence town of the Prussian kings will impress its visitors with castles, beautiful palaces and upperclass town houses. Next to Castle Sanssouci, the New Palais and the old town you will also visit Castle Cecilienhof where in the summer of 1945 the socalled Potsdam Conference of the victorious allied powers took place. Our activity guide will show you the conference and study rooms of President Harry Truman, Prime Minister Winston Churchill and secretary general Josef Stalin – here you can feel German and world history live.
