Levels: Beginner, Intermediate - Level B1, Upper Intermediate - Level B2, Advanced - Level C1
The course is designed to provide students who will be starting a University course in the United Kingdom, with a range of academic skills, such as writing, reading, listening and critical thinking.
The course will cover many areas including : Writing, Reading, Listening, Critical thinking, Paraphrasing, Inferring meaning, Summary writing, Planning essays, Analysing questions, Notetaking skills, Referencing, Recognising plagiarism, Writing a thesis statement and Understanding abstracts. Key language required for seminars, lectures and tutorials will also be covered.
This course can be studied as either a separate course of 5 hours a week or as a skills class.
Students studying General English and IELTS can add English for University as a skills class as long as they fulfill course requirements.
